Terms of Service

These terms apply when you use JournaPlay. By creating an account you agree to them. If you are agreeing on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to do so.

1. What JournaPlay does

JournaPlay takes an article you provide, uses artificial intelligence to generate interactive games from it, lets you edit those games, and hosts them so you can embed them on your own website.

2. Beta

JournaPlay is currently in beta. The service is under active development. Features may change or be removed, interruptions may occur, and the free plan allowance may be reduced when the beta ends. We will give notice before reducing an allowance you are relying on, but during beta we do not offer a service level agreement or uptime guarantee.

3. Your account

You must be at least 18 years old and provide a valid email address.
You are responsible for keeping your password and API keys confidential, and for everything done through your account.
One person may not create multiple free accounts to obtain additional quota.
Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you put in. Your articles remain yours, and the games generated from them are yours to publish, edit and use commercially.

You grant us only the licence we need to run the service: to store your content, send it to our AI provider for processing, host the resulting games, and serve them to readers who load your embed. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account.

You confirm that you have the right to submit the articles and images you upload, and that doing so does not infringe anyone else's copyright or other rights.

5. AI-generated content — please read

Games are generated by an AI model and can be wrong. A quiz answer may be incorrect, a date on a timeline may be misplaced, a statement in the true/false game may be miscategorised, or nuance from your article may be lost.

You are responsible for reviewing every game before you publish it. The studio exists precisely so you can check and correct the output. If you publish a game without reviewing it, any resulting error is published under your masthead, not ours.

We make no warranty that generated content is accurate, complete, impartial or suitable for any particular audience.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use JournaPlay to:

process content that is unlawful, defamatory, or that incites hatred or violence;
process sexual content involving minors, or any content that exploits children;
knowingly generate or distribute disinformation;
submit content you do not have the rights to;
attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the service;
resell access to the API or the generation capability as a competing service;
circumvent plan limits, including by creating multiple accounts.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches this section. Where the breach is serious — particularly anything involving children — we will act immediately and without notice.

7. Plans, quotas and payment

Your plan sets how many articles you may process each month. Quota is counted per distinct article: regenerating the same article does not consume additional quota.
Quota resets monthly and does not carry over.
Generating games requires a verified email address.
Paid plans are billed in advance through our payment provider. We never see or store your card details.
If a payment fails, we may downgrade the account to the free plan after notifying you.
You can cancel at any time; your plan remains active until the end of the period you have paid for.

8. Availability

We aim to keep JournaPlay running continuously, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, provider outages and failures at our AI or email providers can all cause interruption. Embedded games are served from our infrastructure, so an outage on our side can affect pages on your website.

9. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost revenue, lost readers, or reputational harm arising from published game content. Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.

10. Ending the agreement

You may delete your account at any time from the studio. We may terminate or suspend your access if you breach these terms, or if we discontinue the service — in which case we will give reasonable notice and, where you have paid in advance, refund the unused portion.

When your account ends, your games stop working in any page they were embedded in. Export or replace them before you delete.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will email account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts and enforcement offices of İstanbul. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
